Cygnus - Encoding and Broadcasting Solution

Encoding and Broadcasting Solution

Cygnus is an audio/video encoding and broadcasting solution designed for professional environments. It allows real-time encoding, multiplex creation, and live streaming, with redundancy and automatic failover mechanisms to ensure service continuity. Compatible with a wide range of signals and easily integrable via SNMP and Rest API, Cygnus ensures optimal management of incoming and outgoing streams. It also enables distribution to social networks and live program creation, meeting the needs of broadcasting and cable television professionals.

A versatile solution

Cygnus is a solution that can be used in various ways:

Studio Encoder

Studio Encoder: Studio (radio or television) encoding for broadcasting and/or recording.

Cable Television

Cable Television: Creating television services for distribution on an internal cable television network.

Program Production

Program Production: Dressing and switching between different sources for live program production for social networks.

24/7 Live Streaming

24/7 Live Streaming: Live streaming on social networks. Linking with the program schedule allows automatic source switching based on the studio on air.

Contribution Multiplex

Contribution Multiplex: Creating program bundles for broadcast distributors.

Simplified Integration

Cygnus stands out for its ease of integration within your infrastructure.

Heterogeneous Signals

Wide Range of Signals: SDI, ASI, DVB-S2/T2/C2, TSoIP, SRT, AES, MADI… Cygnus can acquire and distribute numerous protocols and codecs.

Third-Party Systems

Integration with Third-Party Systems: SNMP, Rest API, …: Cygnus is fully controllable and monitorable.

Dense

Dense: Supports interfaces with a large number of inputs/outputs and hardware acceleration cards.

Deployment

Ease of Deployment: Depending on your needs, Cygnus can be installed on-site or in the cloud.

Program Creation

In addition to its encoding and multiplexing functions, Cygnus offers tools for program creation and live production, making it an ideal solution for broadcasting on social networks or cable television.

Production

Production: Cygnus allows for continuous broadcasting by switching between different incoming signals. This switching can be done manually through a simplified interface, automatically using a scheduler, or controlled by a third-party system.

PAD Distribution

PAD Distribution: Broadcasting recorded videos or creating slideshows from still images.

Broadcasting

Cygnus is designed to meet diverse live broadcasting needs, whether for television, social networks, or cable television infrastructures.

Broadcast Distribution

Broadcast: H.264/HEVC encoding, MPEG-2 multiplexing, support for various codecs and protocols like SRT for resilient and secure streaming. Supports DVB-S2/T2/C2 modulations.

Social Network Distribution

Social Networks: Simplified distribution to platforms like YouTube, Facebook, or any RTMP(s) or HLS-compatible service.

Cable Television Distribution

Cable Television: TSoIP or modulated distribution for direct integration with cable television networks.

Robustness

The encoding and multiplexing stage is a crucial step in the broadcasting chain, where failure has an immediate impact on program distribution. That’s why the solution includes advanced mechanisms to ensure service continuity in case of incidents or hardware failures.

Cluster Architecture

Cluster Architecture: Cygnus allows for the creation of server clusters, simplifying the administration of systems handling numerous input and output streams. This architecture includes automatic workload distribution (load balancing) and N+m redundancy. In case of a server failure, the remaining workload is automatically redistributed to operational servers, ensuring service continuity.

Input Redundancy

Input Redundancy: In case of a primary input failure, the system automatically switches to the backup input. Multiple switchover strategies are available.
